Although the Daihatsu Terios 1 is very agile off-road due to its short overhangs, the vehicle-specific design means that the gearbox components sit relatively deep in the middle of the underbody. When driving over crests, rocky forest paths, hard embankment edges, or massive tree stumps in the forest, this area is particularly vulnerable. If the compact SUV hits hard here, there is a risk of cracks in the gearbox housing, fatal oil loss, and extremely expensive damage to the shifting and all-wheel drive center.
